Summary/Abstract: Several works regarding safety influencing factors emphasise the growth of natural and civilisational disasters and events in the 21st century. The author analyses the trend of change in natural disasters with statistical methods, as well as reviews Hungarian and international literature with archive research methods with the help of indexing databases. Based on a keyword search, the author evaluates the quantitative and qualitative data of the publications from a scientific metrics point of view, with which he also studies the topicality of the research topic and the discourse between the scientific and academic community. The publication features the recorded events in Hungary divided by type, based on EM-DAT data, during the period between 1900 and 2021 – with special regard to showing emergency situations, their causes and the year of occurrence since 1989 (when the term itself was formed). The author also analyses certain meteorological anomalies occurring in Hungary, based on the statistics of firefighting interventions.
