Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the area of emotional intelligence, particularly its application in coaching. It focuses on abilities and competencies which support discussion between a client and a coach. Emotional processes are descibed and explained. It influences, together with the cognive component of mind, our decision making. The results are based on the research project No. 2E06044 „Managerial audit as a support tool for sustainable development of SMEs“ sponsored by the National Program of Research II Ministry of Education.
