Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this article is to outline some of the directions that Bulgarian scenography took after the bloody suppression of the Prague Spring. Above all, it is the greater institutionalisation of theatre life in general, through the transformation of the Union of the Bulgarian Actors from a trade union into an artistic organisation, and the establishment of the Section of Stage Design, which have taken a leading role in these processes. On the other hand, in spite of the significantly increased control over creative processes, scenography increasingly began to reject the overlaps of the previous decades.
