Summary/Abstract: The article examines and compares the level of financial literacy of 1st, 2nd and 4th year students at the Biochemical Faculty of Moscow Polytechnic University. The article describes a study conducted on the following topic: to what extent young people are ready for independent life at the beginning of their university course and on graduation from the university, and how exactly the level of financial literacy changes during the period of study. A survey has been conducted among students reflecting the degree of family involvement in the financial education of the child. The issue of the need to introduce financial education issues into the university education system in the section of the discipline “Economics” has been discussed
