Summary/Abstract: The problems related to the small business management in the years of transition and under the conditions of the European Union in Bulgaria are not sufficiently explained yet. These challenges will strengthen the “pulse” on the market and will lead as to positive, as well as to negative results for the local entrepreneurs. A well developed economy, that may guarantee market rights and positions, loyalty in the relations and professional ethics, is still missing The business activity in the market economy is usually accepted as business. The business means work, an activity connected with benefit and profit. Resources and accepting a risk are necessary in order to participate in the business. Admi­ttedly, we are speaking of the well calculated reasonable risk, providing and securing expedience when choosing an alternative upon realization of the relevant economic decisions. The business requires a sense of trade, a very good know­ledge about the market and the economic conditions of work, an ease in applying the basic principles and methods of economic mana­gement. The aim of this article is to draw up contemporary aspects connected with the business management based on the critical-constructive analysis of the strategies and tasks. The emphasis is on the challenges of the ambient external and internal environment; the possible conflicts inside the organization and their resolving; the basic motivation factors influencing the small business activity, etc
