Summary/Abstract: This article is intended to provide an introduction to the general principles applicable to the public auctions (Public Auctions Act 2000). Auction is a public proceeding which aims to transfer the ownership or another right to the object of an auction. The Public Auctions Act 2000 divides the auctions into two groups – voluntary auctions and involuntary auctions. During the auction the licitator applies the subjects present in a certain place for giving the price proposals. Ownership or another right to the object of an auction is transferred to the person who made the highest price proposal.
