Summary/Abstract: The Czech Republic accession to the European Union is the chance and opportunity to achieve suitable social and economic level also at the regional and rural area. Th e article is based on research and performed statistic analysis of the South Bohemia region and of the Ústí nad Labem region. Th e monitoring and analysis of the social and economic situation at the regional area is the first of the steps in the process of the regulation and development of the Czech regions.
