Summary/Abstract: This article, in the introductory chapter, aims to provide a short history of Horaiţa monastery, situated at the altitude of 660 meters, between the cities Piatra Neamţ and Târgu Neamţ, and subsequently focuses on the architecture of the church which brings a distinct note in the evolution of Moldavian architecture. The article provides an overview of the church painting, which was executed in the Byzantine style, in the fresco technique, by Mihai Chiuaru and his apprentices between 1988-1993 and was consecrated on the 4th of July 1993 by His Eminence Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina. The characteristic trait of the pictorial ensemble at Horaiţa is the artist’s personal style with traces from the Romanian tradition of Byzantine origin. The final conclusions argue that this painting is genuine due to the refinement of its chromatic ensemble, compositional scheme, resolution, spontaneity of touch as well as the suppleness of the characters.
