Obituary of doc. Ing. Soňa Čapková, PhD.

Summary/Abstract: This article is an obituary of doc. Ing. Soňa Čapková, PhD., an internationally recognized economist and regionalist who passed away at the age of 69 on August 21, 2023¹[1]. She was a distinguished professor at the University of Matej Bela in Banská Bystrica, where she devoted her entire professional life to the Faculty of Economics and the study programs focused on public administration and regional development. She was involved in various national and international research projects on topics such as fiscal decentralization, local production systems, innovation and regional development, and economics and management of local and regional self-government. She also contributed to the internationalization of the study program Territorial Studies, which was offered as a joint program with a double diploma in cooperation with the University of Reims. She was a member of several scientific boards and professional commissions at universities in Slovakia and abroad, and represented the Faculty of Economics of the University of Matej Bela in the international professional network NISPACee. The article expresses gratitude and appreciation for her work and legacy, and offers condolences to her family and colleagues.
