Summary/Abstract: The article explores the motif of gratitude in selected Old French Round Table stories, in particular its origins, variants and correlation with the motifs of giftand quest. The influence of the gratitude motif on the language of the characters(seen as a kind of homo gratus figure), marked by the dialogical nature of thegratitude discourse attributed to them, is also discussed.
