Summary/Abstract: It has long been acknowledged that the meanings of idioms cannot be read from the meanings of their individual constituents. Despite this approach, there have been certain advancements to dismiss this well-established stereotype by turning to the cultural aspect of a language. Hence, the semantics of idioms can be read from the cultural models and metaphors they implicitly incorporate. The present paper aims to investigate the relationship between idiom semantics and culture-specific metaphors in American English.
