CHALLENGE IN THE FIELD OF SOLUTIONS FOR SERVICE IN THE POLICE – DIAGNOSIS FOR THE NEEDS OF THE OPOLSKIE VOIVODESHIP

Summary/Abstract: Regardless of how we characterise safety, a key element to maintaining it is having properly trained staff. Unfortunately, as demographic forecasts indicate, the shortage of working-age people will increase in the coming years. This situation will also affect the formations responsible for maintaining security and public order, both in terms of officers and civilian employees. The following article diagnoses this state of affairs on the example of the Opolskie Voivodeship. It presents the most important factors that already have or in the near future will have an impact on the recruitment process for the service. These factors include demographics, the situation on the labour market, the attitude of the young generation to take up difficult, dangerous duties. There was also a presentation of the undertakings that are carried out by police personnel units, in the Opole garrison, in order to acquire new candidates for service in the Police.
