Summary/Abstract: This article explores the topic of self-assessment performed by teachers of pre-school and early childhood education. Self-assessment has many important functions, and the frequency and extent to which a teacher performs it says a lot about his/her competence and ability to think critically. A teacher’s evaluation of their work thus illustrates how s/he perceives his/her own professional work. An analysis of professional pedagogical and psychological literature allowed us to present the concept of self-evaluation.This article is a fragment of the master’s thesis Self-evaluation of the Work of Preschool and Early School Teachers, written in 2019 under the supervision of dr hab. Iwona Czaja-Chudyba, professor at the Pedagogical University of Krakow, enriched with current professional literature.
