Summary/Abstract: During the years of the authoritarian regimes in Romania (1938-1944) the activity of the political parties was prohibited, with a few exceptions. However, the leaders of these parties continued to hold meetings. The present study deals with the activity of the Ploughmen’s Front political organization and of its leader, dr. Petru Groza, who used to live in Deva during those years. The paper makes use of a series of unpublished documents, which point out Petru Groza’s relationships with other leaders of the organization and with the peasants. The documents testify Groza’s connections to the communists and to his political ideas related to the future of Romania. The documents prove that dr. Petru Groza and the Ploughmen’s Front were attentively watched by the police, who supervised closely every activity they would carry out.
