Summary/Abstract: The article contains the presentation of five books: “Bruges, the Second Death” by Georges Rodenbach, “Mastering the Shadow of the Bird” by Ingrid Bacher, “The Dove” by Patrick Suskind, “Private Conversations” by Ingmar Bergman and “Enduring Love” by Ian McEwan. The first one is about the main characters passion for his dead wife, which finds a replacement embodied in a young actress. The city (Bruges) contributes organically to the plot. The second book gathers two stories, its title being a line of the main character of the first story. “The Dove” is the symbol that unleashed the need of the character to get into contact with humanity. In “Private Conversations” Bergman wrote about the wife who does not regret adultery though keeping in mind that it would upset the natural order and it would affect her loved ones. The last book presented talks about aberration as love and its disastrous effects.
