Summary/Abstract: This article examines the challenges regarding classification presented by uchronies or alternative histories, as part of the science fiction subgenre, by analysing “O leito” (The bed). This work written by Nacho Taibo was one of the most relevant short stories in Galician language during the post-Franco regime. This discussion will also reflect on the role of alternative history in the discipline of history as well as its specific practice within minority cultures and in contexts of adversity or political resistance, both characteristics which can be identified in the Galician cultural field at the end of Franco dictatorship.
