Summary/Abstract: This qualitative paper contrasts the Macedonian and the English language grammatical systems, i.e., their morphological and syntactic features in order to determine those which cause frequent difficulties for the Macedonian EFL learners and speakers. The sample represents formal descriptions of some features of the ML and EL grammatical systems as conventionalized in their reference grammars respectively. The juxtaposition relies upon contrastive analysis. The CA results indicate types of differences between the grammatical systems of the ML and EL which cause two-way interference, i.e., language transfer across both languages – ML(L1) > EL(L2) > ML(L1). The results are valuable for modelling approaches towards enhancing Macedonian EFL communicative and translational skills.
