Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with activities of the Women’s Committee of the Central Council of Trade Unions as an umbrella organisation of women within the Revolutionary Trade Union Movement. The time span covers the after-war period of 1945–1948 when the Committee activities became the most vigorous in order to provide sufficient number of woman labour force for the nationalised industrial companies. At the same time, it tried to provide women with adequate social background and pay conditions that would have motivated them to get the job voluntarily. The goal of the paper is to demonstrate what means the Committee used to make this new social deal easier for women with regard to changes after February 1948. The attention is paid as well to the employment of women in particular industrial branches.
