Summary/Abstract: The present article argues for introducing the paradigm of trans linguistics, as outlined by Zimman (2020), into the Polish language sciences. Research conducted in this paradigm examines how transgender identities function in language with use of various methodologies, and, importantly, assumes the perspective of the transgender community. Relevant social contexts are taken into account (cf. Bieńkowska 2014), so that the study belongs to the category of “engaged humanities” (cf. Kochanowski 2013). Then, the article attempts to outline and critically analyze existing Polish research on the topic and possible directions for future studies.
