Summary/Abstract: The first part of the study clarifies the economic situation in the inter-war Czechoslovakia. The passing of Government Ordinance No. 137/1934 Coll., on regulation of trade with corn, flour and mill and animal feed products, known as Corn Monopoly Act, had presumably the greatest impact on field agriculture. The goal of the corn monopoly was to regulate the market and prices of the domestic corn, to rectify the trade with flour, mill and animal feed products. The Act also contained an exact definition of those organisations charged with execution of control task and grouped in a joint organisation – Czechoslovak Corn Society that survived as Privileged Corn Society until 1948 when the Czechoslovak economy was subjected to important changes. The second part deals with implementation of corn monopoly in Slovakia, the establishment, position and working of the Slovakian Corn Society in Bratislava in 1934, with the changes after disintegration of Czechoslovakia in 1939 and establishment of Corn Society for Slovakia in Bratislava, with relation of both societies and their position. The conclusion of the study brings a concise analysis of archive documents on activity of Corn Monopoly organisations in the first half of 20th century in Slovakia that are kept in Slovakian National Archives. It considers its status, the original and proposed organisational structure as well as possibilities in making the documents accessible for general public.
