Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to identify the measurement techniques for inequality and poverty. The Gini index and the Theil index as well as the Basic Human Needs indicator are objects of the study. Also, the study analyses the Quality of Life Index (QLI) and Health Care Index (HCI) and how they are applicable in different countries and regions worldwide alongside the standard of life measurement through the Purchasing Power Index (PPI). The paper identifies that it is necessary when looking at inequalities to apply more than one measure. Also, it is necessary to distinguish between inequality within a given country and inequality between countries, especially when they are located in different regions and at different stages of their economic development.
