Overview of Lidové Noviny Correspondents from Carpathian Ruthenia

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the topic of correspondents from Carpathian Ruthenia who worked for the journal Lidové noviny in the inter-war era. It focuses briefly on the political situation after incorporation of the new territory to the Czechoslovak Republic and then it pursues careers of prominent journalists and editors working in Uzhorod or Chust, stating their journalistic acronyms and pseudonyms. It attempts to record their activities in other journals and magazines and their destiny during WWII. It emphasises whether Carpathian Ruthenia was a central or peripheral topic for each and every editor and reporter. It states a conscious or subconscious effort to eliminate the presence of Hungarian population in Carpathian Ruthenia from the reports and to depict the land as a sole domain of Ruthenians and Jews.
