Summary/Abstract: The introduction outlines the situation of Chełm, or more precisely,of its Polish population in 1943. The main part of the article presentsarchival materials from the Chełm Division of the State Archive inLublin, which contain stories of escapees from Volhynia. The authormentions the events of that time and the localities from whichthe Volhynia inhabitants came to Chełm. Documents which containtraces of Volhynia are one more confirmation of the tragedy of thethen events.
