Summary/Abstract: The article aims at discussing the problem of social support for families of refugees from Ukraine staying in Poland as a result of the war from the perspective of social pedagogy, based on the material obtained from the structured (in-depth) interviews. The results of the study demonstrate that the refugees have received a wide range of social support in Poland, for which they have expressed their gratitude and words of thanks. The supporters have created “a spiral of goodwill” and achieved a general aim of social support, i.e. to meet the necessary needs of the people being in a difficult, even traumatic situation, which they are not able to overcome by means of their own strengths and resources. The achievement of the above-mentioned aim of social support has not prompted in the interlocutors an attitude of active involvement in the improvement of their own life situation, which is important, for example, from the perspective of social pedagogy, in practical terms. Despite functioning in a favorable social environment, the lack of independent involvement of the interlocutors in the construction and course of their own lives may lead to the loss of their potential development and life chances in the future.
