Summary/Abstract: The article presents the assumptions of the project INT128: “Language teaching for children of preschool and early school age. German and Polish as a Foreign Language // Frühkindliche Sprachvermittlung. Deutsch bzw. Polnisch als Fremdsprache”, which is carried out within the Interreg VA cooperation program Germany/Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/Brandenburg/Poland in the target area “European Territorial Cooperation” of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The main objective of the project is to create additional opportunities for learning languages and getting acquainted with the culture of the neighboring country in accordance with the priority axis “Education” of the Interreg VA program and the overall objective “Lifelong Learning”. The project also aims to strengthen cooperation between all partners and educational institutions in Germany and Poland. In order to increase the effectiveness of language learning at the regional level, materials for teaching Polish and German as a foreign language to preschool and early school-age children were developed together with teachers from the project partners. To improve cooperation and learning outcomes, classrooms in schools and kindergartens were equipped with devices for language teaching. Under the project, additional measures will be taken to supplement the offer of cross-border meetings and eliminate the language barrier. The project is a continuation of INT-10-0043 “German-Polish Youth Education and Communication Center in the Municipalities of Passow and Pinnow on the Odra River and the Municipalities of Chojna, Gryfino, Kołbaskowo, Stare Czarnowo and Wałcz” and projects from the Small Projects Fund.
