Summary/Abstract: I propose to look at chess, especially e-chess, through performatics. Performative is causative, efficient, equal (as a subject), active (in the sense of action). The computerization of chess, the emergence of automatic game recording paradoxically reduces their performativity; as you archive, add games to virtual libraries, the „here and now” aspect of viewing disappears. Man and computer perform. Programs change their faces, convert from platform to platform, complement each other and sup- port people. This, in turn, attracts more chess players to the game, so the performance is broadened. The educational role of e-chess in performance education cannot be overestimated.
