On the Transformation of the Normative Concept of Power. A Eurocentric Perspective

Summary/Abstract: The article is a proposal for a Eurocentric, normative presentation of the transformation of the concept of power. The author, focusing on normative interpretations, uses the matrix Enlightenment-Counter-Enlightenment-New Quality in the form of Marx and Engels/liberalism-conservatism-leftist thought. The proposed transformation links conservatism/counter-Enlightenment with patriarchy (the authority of the Fathers), and liberalism/enlightenment (the authority of the Legislative Fathers). In turn, the concept of power by Marx and Engels is presented as entangled in the ambivalence of the elimination (Aufhebung) of power and the possibility of taking over it, as well as the dispute over the subject of social change and possible normative visions.
