Summary/Abstract: This article examines the role of the Jewish elites in Prague from 1780 to the first half of the 19th century, focusing on their economic, intellectual, and cultural achievements. It also analyzes the challenges and obstacles they faced in their integration into the Czech and German society, such as religious, linguistic, and political issues. The article highlights the diversity and complexity of the Jewish elites, who were influenced by various factors such as the Josephinian reforms, the Haskala movement, the Napoleonic wars, and the national revival. The article argues that the Jewish elites contributed significantly to the shaping of the Jewish identity and the development of the city of Prague.
