Summary/Abstract: This report documents the restoration of a 19th century Torah mantle from the State Jewish Museum. The mantle was made of silk brocade, velvet, metal, and ceramics, and had various types of damage and corrosion. The restoration involved washing, cleaning, dyeing, strengthening, repairing, and conserving the different materials and elements of the mantle. The report describes the methods and operations used for each part of the mantle, as well as the final re-assembly and storage conditions. The restoration preserved the original appearance and character of the mantle, as well as its historical and cultural value.
