Summary/Abstract: In this article, we propose to analyse the way in which Karim Kattan uses a personal family story in his novel Le Palais des deux collines to recount events from the wider history of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, from 1948 to the present day. We will look at several aspects: the question of identity (between belonging to a people and the experience of exile), the allegorical device used by the author to create parallelism and the metaphorical role of certain main characters.
