Summary/Abstract: The paper tries to shed light on some of the challenges that traditional culture researchers face when using the Internet, and especially when using information posted on various websites, online encyclopedias, portals, newspapers, TV shows, videos etc. Of course, in addition to the multitude of professional and scientific literature in the field of folklore, ethnology, socio-cultural anthropology, cultural history, history of art, ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology and other sciences that deal with the research of traditional culture, various information is also available on the Internet which they have not passed the strict recension of scientific thought, that is, they are not fully scientifically supported, but they are still easily accessible to anyone interested in the research of traditional culture. Here, first of all, we mean the various data on events and people from cultural history, the various interpretations of folk creation, both from the domain of immaterial and material culture. This information placed on the Internet is often suitable for scientific speculations and various non-scientific constructions. As such negative examples of the placement of various nebulous theses are several examples of legends about the ancient Macedonian rulers Philip II and Alexander III of Macedon (Alexander the Great), which represent an ordinary clumsy construct, then the attempts of some Bulgarian historians and politicians to appropriate the Macedonian cultural heritage are indicated through the various shows posted on Youtube, such attempts as we find from some Serbian journalists in their shows posted on the same social network, as well as the video of an art teacher and artist who correlates the motifs in the Macedonian textile ornamentation with stone engravings and the ancient Macedonian tradition that he believes is over 400.000 years old and that all civilizations originate from it. From the perspective of a teacher and mentor, a special review is also made of the challenges encountered by students of folkloristics as researchers of traditional culture in the preparation of their papers using data from the Internet.
