Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the origin of the Czecho-Jewish Movement of the 1870’s. The development of the movement is followed up to the 1890’s (Siegfried Kappen, the origin and first years of the activities of the Association of Czech Academicians-Jews, the origin of Czech Jewish Almanac, Vojtěch Rakous, the society Or Tomid, attempts at introducing Hebrew-Czech liturgy into synagogues, etc.).
