Summary/Abstract: The article written on the occasion of the 370 h anniversary of Rabbi Low’s death surveys his life and educational activities. Rabbi Löw (1512-1609) is the central figure of many legends (the story of the Golem, legends concerning the relation between Rabbi Löw and Emperor Rudolf II, legends of Rabbi Low’s grave and those giving account of his fighting the Angel of Death), which are discussed in the second part of the article.
