Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a group of icons dating from the 14th to the 19th century from Bulgarian museum collections and monasteries that follow the definition of a “composite icon” as proposed by Panayotis L. Vocotopoulos, who coined this term for icons consisting of two separate panels of a different size inserted one into another.
