Summary/Abstract: The present article is dedicated to economic criminal law in light of European regulations. The reason for writing was the willingness to present the most relevant aspects of protection of European financial interests by means of criminal law. The author describes historical background of this regulations starting from early seventies until the end of nineties as well as discusses main legal sources, such as the Treaty of Amsterdam, the Treaty establishing the European Community, the Convention of 26 July 1995 on the protection of the European Communities’ Financial Interests, the Protocol of 27 September 1996 to the Convention on the Protection of Community Financial Interests, the Second Protocol of 19 June 1997 to the Convention on the protection of the European Communities’ financial interests, the Council framework Decision of 28 May 2001 combating fraud and counterfeiting of non-cash means of payment, the Council framework Decision of 29 June 2001 on money laundering, the identification, tracing, freezing, seizing and confiscation of instrumentalities and the proceeds of crime, etc. In particular, detailed aspects of fraud and corruption in the European Union are presented. The author also presents main institutions appointed to combat economic crimes in the territory of the European Union. Especially filed of operation of organs, like OLAF, Europol, and Eurojust was presented. Apart from that, the author conducts in-depth analysis followed by the attempt of evaluation of the most important drafts concerning future legislation in that field, such as the Corpus Iuris and the European Prosecutor. Finally, the author assesses influence of the European law on Polish legal landscape, especially elaborating on amendments regarding Polish criminal law.
