Summary/Abstract: The aim of my article is to present one of the widely discussed problems in Italian philosophy: its methodological and historiographic status. Since the Unification of Italy to this day, there has been a philosophical debate on this topic. Can Italian philosophy become an inspiring force for Polish philosophy and vice versa? My argument has the following structure: the starting point is considerations regarding the status of Italian philosophy, then I pose the question: whether Polish philosophy, which has its own specificity, can enter into dialogue with Italian philosophy. In the last part, I present, using the example of B. Croce and G. Agamben, the most impor- tant reasons for communication difficulties between Italian and Polish philosophy.
