Summary/Abstract: In this article, we analyze the link between the discourses of two dominant religious communities – the Catholic Church in Croatia and the Orthodox Church in Serbia – and the attitudes and practices of the citizens of these two post-socialist states. In order to test this relationship, empirical data compiled on the citizens’ level of religiosity, traditionality, and the gender division of labor in these societies were compared. The findings indicate that a correlation does exist between religiosity and traditionality in Croatia and Serbia; specifically, more religious individuals are still more traditional. Another correlation was found with the division of household work, but certain specificities emerge in relation to attitudes towards the division of labor between men and women.
