PSYCHONEUROIMMUNOLOGICAL REACTION TO RITUAL: RITUAL DYNAMIC AS A DETERMINANT OF PSYCHOSOMATIC TRANSFORMATION

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the dynamic aspects of the ritual are analyzed in order to illuminate the influence of ritual practices on the psychoneuroimmunological state of the organism. The assumption is that the specific characteristics of rituals, especially religious rituals, can have a positive effect in the treatment of patients and achieving homeostasis. The specific dynamic of the rituals is analyzed from the aspect of production of certain experiences in the process of performing rituals, that is, psychoneuroimmunological changes that one ritual can challenge at the individual and group level.
