Summary/Abstract: The analysis of global economic, social and political events in the context of their impact on the situation in Europe and Poland contributes to the discussion of the state of social and public security in educational and scientific institutions. The article is based primarily on information found in the Internet space, as this provides an up-to-date picture of the threats affecting Web users. An effective method of influencing the awareness of viewers by news writers and portal owners is to shake the sense of public security. Increasingly widespread access to the possibilities of the virtual world entails threats to which students, pupils, as well as their parents and teachers, fall victim. In addition, it is causing a disconnect from traditional values and separating society from the cultural heritage available primarily in analog form. The virtual world and the achievements of technology seem to exempt us from the prudent use of the benefits of modernity. Raising awareness of this danger and pointing out how to avoid it is one of the most important tasks of a modern school and of those who enjoy the authority of children, adolescents and adults alike.
