“SHRINE” - AN ETHNOLOGICAL EVENT IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF FOČA

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the material recorded during field research in 2021 in the village of Zavait (Foča municipality, Republika Srpska) about the appearance of the preservation and display of sacred objects - children’s relics - in the family of Krsto Prodanović. The basis of the work is the transcripts of conversations with the “guardian” of the shrine and the dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty “St. Vasilije Ostroški” in Foča. They provide a (fleeting) insight into this topic from two angles: from the perspective of the “guardian” of the sanctuary and from the point of view of the holy person. The goal of the paper is to direct the attention of the narrow and wider scientific/ professional community to this extremely interesting ethnological phenomenon and encourage its further research.
