Summary/Abstract: The paper provides information on the relief found in Krakow, referring to the painting by the Austrian artist Hans Makart: Cleopatra’s Nile Journey. It is an interesting variation on the Cleopatra motif in modernera art, and a contribution to the history of Orientalism and Egyptomania of the turn of the 20th century. Notes on Makart’s relations with Poland and his travel to Egypt are also included.
