Summary/Abstract: The article provides a general overview of Jewish integration in Hungarian sports associations founded during the era of dualism. It analyses the reactions of integrationist and Zionist Jews, as well as of the liberal bourgeoisie to cases of antisemitic discrimination. The article argues that sports associations offer one of the most revealing illustrations of both the failure and the success of the nineteenth-century liberal project to create a modern bourgeois society in Hungary
