Summary/Abstract: A role of religion in the post-communistic society of Serbia is quite intense. New ambient circumstances brought up a need for re-evangelization, and for that reason the beginning of the nineties can be interpreted as a process of revitalization of the Orthodox faith and an affirmation of its social role. Although the largest number believe that religion is a true carrier of cultural and national identity of the Serbian people, and that without its role, the Serbian people could not withstand challenges of the epoch of the modern civilization, there are still those who think that the religious system has a predominant role and who demand its marginalization for the sake of stronger secularization. In relation to this, the Belgrade Cultural Center, with financial support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation from Berlin, conducted an empirical research of the social relevance of religion in Serbia. In this paper, we will give a special attention to indicators of religious dogmatism, which, contrary to indicators of religious self-identification, indicate an alarming situation in the area of understanding dogmatic questions of one’s own faith; among those, the most important questions are questions related to God, Resurrection, Heaven and Hell, etc.
