“We Bless You Together, Lord!” (Piano Transcriptions J. S. Bach – Nikolay Stoykov, op. 99)

Summary/Abstract: For the famous Bulgarian composer Nikolay Stoykov (1936 – 2020), transcription is a deep inner creative impulse. The consideration of piano transcriptions (opus 99 and opus 100) of Nikolai Stoykov in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach in the present text is in two main planes. The first refers to the stages of creation of the works, and the second – their performing „fate“. The study focuses on solo piano transcriptions op. 99 from recent years, which are considered here for the first time. Some of the works have not been published and the musical examples are provided by manuscripts.
