Summary/Abstract: The modern age forces the individual to constantly search for their identity. The article presents results of a qualitative study using the biographic method carried out through a narrative interview of five women, non-drinking alcoholics (identity- searchers) and an analysis of their biographies. The author presents life stories of their childhood and adolescence in the context of alcoholism. It presents fragments of research results, important threads to illustrate the specifics of the drifting experience. At the end of the article, there is a comparison between the drifting with the floating in the concept of Agnieszka Bron.
