Summary/Abstract: The fundamental goal of the European Union (hereinafter referred to as the EU) is the continuous improvement of a single and free European market space based on the four economic freedoms, the freedom of movement of goods, services, people and capital, which certainly also implies the unhindered movement of consumers. Their activity on the market requires the establishment of as equal a relationship as possible between business entities on the one hand and persons, consumers on the other hand, who operate on the market outside of their business activities. With its legal instruments, the EU regulates this area in an effort to ensure the proper functioning of the common internal market with the aim of providing consumers in all member countries with the same level of rights protection. The legal provisions that take over the most recently adopted EU acts regulating this area into Croatian consumer protection law are contained primarily in the new Consumer Protection Act that was adopted in 2022, but also in numerous other consumer and non-consumer regulations. Bosnia and Herzegovina is in an early stage of preparation in the field of consumer protection. The Law on Consumer Protection from 2006 is currently being applied, and the Preliminary Draft of the new Law on Consumer Protection of BiH, in which the new “consumer” directives of the EU have been transposed, to the appropriate extent, has, unfortunately, still not passed the parliamentary procedure of adoption
