Summary/Abstract: The author takes the view that religious extremism does not derive from religious doctrine of any religion but it is instigated by political reasons. Namely, the connection of religion with politics produces religious extremism and religious exclusiveness which often leads to bloody wars and killings. The last war of this type was the Thirty Years War. In the contemporary world religious extremism encourages terrorism. Religious extremism was present in wars during the break-up of Yugoslavia. The author gives us the example of the "export of the Iranian revolution" which was preached by the spiritual and religious leaders of the Iranian revolution, as well as the speech of Bishop Atanasije in 1992.
