Summary/Abstract: The unawareness of the pregnancy is based on the defensive mechanism of denial. Denial being the failure of our psyche to accept an obvious fact. Pregnancy denial can occur as a result of a mental disorder (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anorexia or post-traumatic stress disorder) or it can occur without any other mental disorder being present.
