Training of practitioners in victims’ rights

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the topic of professional training of practitioners in the matter of the protection of victims’ rights. The first section outlines the legal framework that governs professional training in this field and how it is applied in Romania. The article explores the connection between professional training and the ability of victims to exercise their rights. In this sense, the article draws on empirical data gathered from the authorities responsible for the professional training of practitioners, as well as data on the practical exercise by victims of their rights, such as accessing state-paid compensation for the damage produced by the crime. Finally, the article provides suggestions for improving the professional training of practitioners who come into contact with crime victims.
