Summary/Abstract: During socialism in Bulgaria visual propaganda has been widely used in order to convince the population of the right political track of the BCP, to educate it in the socialist ideals and to reach the plan’s goals. The forms of the visual propaganda or nagledna agitatsiya as it was known at the time are various and the slogan plays a central part in their content. The aim of the text is to analyze some of the most frequently used forms of visual propaganda, to outline their characteristics and the central role of the slogan in their content creation. The methodology uses content analysis, as well as comparative analysis. Several suggestions for author’s definitions and classification are made, which could be a basis for future studies.
